Why do you think E.W. Scripps, and Scripps Networks split apart last year? It is evident that print is a dying media. Why would I pay for a newspaper, when I can go online and read the stories right there? Plus, radio and TV newscasts offer the same stories for free.
If a newspaper is run efficiently and is not way over staffed, I think it could survive for the long term. I read about every page of the KNS on a daily basis and it's a lot easier and faster for me to read a paper copy than to scan through an electronic copy. If I was only interested in UT sports, I agree with you it would be best to go online.
I disagree that radio and TV newscasts offer the same stories. Now that "The Voice" is off the air, I don't know of any radio station that covers local issues (I don't cont HHH) other than sports. The local TV newscasts concentrate on a couple of local stories but IMO spend too much of their time on the weather. They frequently open with the weather, go to some news, provide numerous charts regarding the weather, have a couple of minutes of sports and maybe have a recap of the weather.
