Life Without Parole. Whine, Walk?
He will probably get some relief in the appeal process IMO.

I never expected him to walk. He was holding down the fort at Chipman Street with Channon tied up inside while at least two others left the house with Newsom (in a blind fold) heading to the railroad tracks. Thomas admitted in his interrogation that he was still in the house at that time.

PV, I think the jury took that aspect into consideration when they went the Life Without Parole route. The lack of physical evidence meant the automatic Death Sentence appeal would probably have worked with him possibly getting simple life w/parole.
The w/o parole sentence eliminates a LOT of the appellate horseshiate. I don't see how any judge in the State of Tennessee facing re-election or approval at the ballot-box would DARE mess with this sentence.

My Lawyer Buddy(JV) told me he expects (along with some other legal folks) Thomas to get a new trial. I take my hat off to Randy Nichols for holding firm, even if in the long run he gets relief it is in the best interest that the family knows that this community followed their wishes and went all the way. Eric Boyd will agree to keep his 18 year sentence and not pursue relief in exchange for the DA's office agreeing to not push for murder charges. The DA's office feared that Baumgartner was going to set aside the sentence in fear of the Judge's ego and fear of having the case tossed or in the appealate process. Smart money says he does 7-10 years.
This guy will do OK in prison, he did not turn evidence nor was he tied to the rapes. Rome probably has to stay in protective custody or die in the yard.

This animal will never get out of prison. COD will be old age or killed in the exercising yard.

Gus, Thomas is going to get relief from his sentence. Smart money says he does less time than Eric Boyd.
