This topic has been discussed ad nauseum by you. But since you've never been a poor, single woman faced with an unwanted pregnancy let's rehash what Planned Parenthood offers all women, but especially poor women with little or no resources.

1. PP offers safe and reliable birth control methods to those who can't afford them
2. PP educates women about birth control
3. PP educates women about their health and their babies health (what to do; what not to do) during pregnancy
4. PP teaches women about sexually transmitted diseases and how to avoid them
5. PP offers emergency contraception (the "morning after pill")
6. PP educates women on abortion and what are the risks/benefits
7. PP offers more than 1 million Pap tests and more than 850,000 breasts exams (to check for breast cancer) EACH YEAR for women who could otherwise not afford it
8. PP offers women other health services including pelvic exams and other tests to prevent cervical cancer
9. PP tests for HIV infection and all kinds of STDs
10. PP offers abortion services and referrals for women dealing with an unwanted pregnancy
11. PP tests for pregnancy
12. PP fights for sexual education in our public schools
13. PP opposes attacks on women's health, assuring that women have access to health care without fear of violence, intimidation, and harassment from nutbags on the religious right (like the author of this thread)

Teenage pregnancies and syphilis have risen sharply among a generation of American school girls who were urged to avoid sex before marriage under George Bush's evangelically-driven education policy, according to a new report by the US's major public health body.
In a report that will surprise few of Bush's critics on the issue, the Centres for Disease Control says years of falling rates of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted disease infections under previous administrations were reversed or stalled in the Bush years. According to the CDC, birth rates among teenagers aged 15 or older had been in decline since 1991 but are up sharply in more than half of American states since 2005. The study also revealed that the number of teenage females with syphilis has risen by nearly half after a significant decrease while a two-decade fall in the gonorrhea infection rate is being reversed. The number of Aids cases in adolescent boys has nearly doubled.

The CDC says that southern states, where there is often the greatest emphasis on abstinence and religion, tend to have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and STDs.

At Life Dynamics, we have considerable experience with people who work in abortion clinics where they witness illegal or unethical activity occurring.  In some cases, this sort of activity went on for a long time before the employees became aware of it.  In other cases, employees sensed that something didn't seem quite right, but were unable to pinpoint exactly what it was.  We have even seen situations in which employees became participants in, or accomplices to, crimes which they didn't know were happening.
If you are an employee of an abortion clinic and you conceal knowledge of a crime, you could be exposing yourself to arrest and prosecution.  You may not think this applies to you.  However, if this illegal activity is ever discovered, the decision about your level of involvement will not be made by you, but by a law enforcement agency or perhaps even a federal prosecutor.

Failure to report facilitates the sexual abuse of underage girls
Imagine the shock when a single mom discovers that her fiancé has been sexually abusing her 12-year-old daughter. Now try to imagine her outrage at finding out that the sexual abuse of her daughter had been prolonged because healthcare workers were willing to look the other way when this molester paid them to perform an abortion on her daughter - not once, but twice. Five months after her first abortion, the same clinic helped this sexual predator once again by performing a second 'confidential' abortion on this minor child.
Instead of reporting suspected child abuse as required by law, abortion clinic workers subjected this child to further sexual abuse by helping this child predator cover up his crime. And family planning clinics are able to sell more abortions, more birth control and more treatments for sexually transmitted diseases by keeping quiet about suspected child abuse and statutory rape.
Failure to report suspected abuse is against the law and harms children
Every state has laws that require healthcare workers and others to report suspected child abuse to a law enforcement agency or child protective services. When circumstances suggest a reasonable suspicion that a child could be a victim of abuse, a report is required. It is not the job of the "mandatory reporter" to investigate the facts in these cases. The law simply directs them to file a report with a law enforcement agency or child protective services whenever facts might suggest a reasonable suspicion of abuse.
Mandatory reporters are not permitted to pick and choose which cases they will report based on their personal opinion. Those who may feel that there is nothing wrong with adult-child sex cannot simply pretend child rape is merely consensual sex. By law, an underage girl cannot consent to sex. Nor does the law allow a mandatory reporter to decide whether or not a report should be filed based on the statements of the child, because cover stories are often concocted to cover up cases of abuse.
Criminal and civil penalties for failure to report suspected abuse
Undercover tapes from a recent investigation proved that over 90% of the time family planning services fail to comply with child abuse reporting laws. If your boss instructs you to cover up potential crimes against children, remember that failure to comply with child abuse reporting laws is a criminal offense and it is also a felony to assist in perpetrating the ongoing abuse of a child. In addition, if a clinic worker or clinic owner facilitates child abuse by their failure to report, the victim and/or her parents may be able to recover damages against them. (Click here for details)
