Steele was already hitting 89 percent of his free throws prior to his game with Gatlinburg-Pittman.

Most college players now days have trouble hitting 70 percent of their free throws.  I bet they spent a lot more time practicing shots from the 3 point line than the free throw line.

I heard Phil on the Whine & Biscuit Show yesterday tell a caller that he had not played basketball in a couple of years, but that he could hit "7 of 10."  He said it was all "technique."  The toothache guy said he sounded like Dearstone.      Phil then called Dearstone a windbag or a word to that effect.

I have found it interesting that several times, good free throw shooters like Maze and Wheezy get advise from JP or Hopson before they shoot?????????

I told a guy that last night and darn if Kenny Hall, who hasn't hit one since Christmas, steps up to tell Cannington how to shoot his.  Cannington then hits his two.  Of course Kenny gets fouled and steps up and swishes both!!!  Oh, well.

I told that same guy about sitting behind JP in the Ole Miss? game when he shot a free throw from his usual right side toward the student section.  The thing curved like a golf shot left and skimmed off of the left iron.  The guy, who sat in the same line, said, "Yeah, I remember that one!"

I say let a UT player coach free throw shooting and start with Skylar McThree.

"The greatest quote in Knoxville radio history [was] when Kiffin was hired.  Hyams was interviewing Pete Carroll - Basilio was talking to W. Lynn and Small Mike. Absolutely classic!"

Shooting FT's at that level is "MENTAL".  As low of a BB IQ as that team has I can see why they are missing shots

I'd do him.

as a former D1 and pro player, FT shooting is not mental. It is a muscle memory reflex from practicing the right way. Many today have bad form and they do not put the time in. 20 hour rule has some blame but the players are not coached right nor are they practicing correctly.

Coach Pearl should have demanded that Prince take his free throws from the center of the foul line the first day Prince walked into UT's gym.  I think Prince only does it to draw attention to himself and it works because almost every announcer points out his odd shooting style.

How about Pearl putting on 50 lbs since HighSchool all that extra muscle if you aren't practising your FT's got to cause some strong arming....
