I would actually like to see Ted Nugent put Bill Maher in his place again. That was classic.

I love Nugent's passion and his belief in the responsibility of the individual. It is refreshingly Americana.

I would vote for a person chosen at random from the Soddy-Daisy phone book than vote for a Democrat.

Gov. Paterson (EGP-NY) has chosen fall on his sword.

Will Rangel be next...or will this tax cheat continue to head the Ways & Means committee and write tax policy?

I doubt he does come January 2011, either way.

Why is it that the Senators have figured out how to get "their share" legally and House members can't?

Seriously, hasn't Rangel looked at Lamar! or Evan Bayh?  Doesn't he realize that you can use totally legal ways to make 10s of millions as a career public servant.  Lamar! has used options, getting in "on the ground floor" of business opportunities with no money down, selling his house to people with an interest before him and other means.  Evan Bayh laundered his bribes through his wife's board of directors seats.  Why is it that the House members never learn?  It's a mystery....

Sort of blows a hole in that "liberals are smarter" theory huh?

Here's the problem - how do you label what I'd call a corporate puppet, aka corporatist, aka tool for big business.  Evan Bayh (D) and Lamar! (R) both qualify, so are they "liberal" or "conservative."

There's something about the job of being Senator that seems to create these legal means of stealing money that for some reason don't occur to House members or maybe they're just not lucky enough or big-dog enough to be cut in on them.

No kidding, when was the last time a Senator got into hot water over finances?  It's always or nearly always a House member.  The only Senator that comes to mind is Ted Stevens, and he was old and arrogant and they got him similar to the Clinton "sex act" - the real issues if they existed aren't what brought them down.  I think it's that multi-millionaires like Lamar! have no need for cash in the freezer or getting a lobbyist to pay for a plane fare - that's handled by their ill gotten, but legal, loot.

20th House Republican Calls it Quits
Rep. John Linder (R-GA) announced he will not seek another term in November, according to CQ Politics.

The GOP is expected to have little trouble holding the seat.

Linder is the 20th House Republican to announce retirement plans as compared to 14 Democrats.

The real analysis of the questioning of retiring members of Congress is the likelihood that the party will maintain the seat.  For instance Jim Bunning is retiring but the odds of his Senate seat staying Republican is 60-40.  Therefore his retirement doesn't mean that much, whoever wins his seat will still be a Conservative.

Evan Bayh a "left winger"???!!!

FL is a classic liberal...he can't take a minute to look at Bayh's vote on President Obama's agenda and see where that puts him on the political scale.

Health Care - voted yes
Cap and Trade - voted yes
Stimulus - voted yes

He has voted for every major bill that Liberals support.   Bayh was and is a MINO...moderate in name only.  His voting record says he is a liberal.  In a red state like Indiana he didn't stand much of a chance of re-election.

That's a nice theory, backed up by nothing.  Evan Bayh was polling fine and had a gigantic fundraising advantage over any opponent.

And what "cap and trade" vote are you talking about.  I'm not aware of a "cap and trade" vote of any kind in the Senate.  The House passed a version of it, but it died in the Senate since people like Evan Bayh opposed it, like Evan "My wife is paid $millions by health care concerns to pretend to be a Director" Bayh opposed any real reform in health care, like drug negotiations, a public option - aka any provision that would actually disadvantage his family money tree.
