I remember when an idiot named T T used to tell us that TBA sucked....even after the Pearl rehab.

Thompson-Boling Arena (21). Who plays there: Tennessee. Opened: 1987. Capacity: 21,678. Arena foolishly built to be bigger than Rupp, checking in at 25,000. School wisely downsized a few years ago while adding luxury suites. Now one of the nicest arenas in the nation.

Get some. Man, regardless of how long it takes, old DaVols is always right.

It was not the arena it was a lack of enthusiasm for the program. I would go to a men's game and it would be a morgue. Then the following night I would go to a game and the place rocked.

No question the changes improved the arena. But PV is right. It is the fans that make the place. If you had 6k it wouldn't get the props from Forde.

To be fair it's hard to be enthusiastic getting your rear handed to you by the likes of ETSU. The Lady Vols have always been successful.

In the fall of 2008, the University of Tennessee Athletics Department unveiled Phase I of a two-phase renovation project for Thompson-Boling Assembly Center and Arena.

The $35 million project marked the first major renovation to Thompson-Boling Arena since it opened in 1987. In that time, more than 13 million patrons have attended thousands of arena events, including basketball games, concerts, UT and high school graduations and other special events.

Phase I included new seats for the entire arena, a center-hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other amenities.
Phase I also included new luxury suites and loge seating, which are a primary funding source for much of the renovations. The 32 luxury suites are located in the existing north balcony of Thompson-Boling Arena. The loge area features 166 side court seats, located directly below the luxury suites and includes private adjoining hospitality areas.

Phase II will begin this summer with the construction of a bridge connecting the G-10 parking garage to the arena at concourse level. Depending on the bids for the project, UT officials hope to add a passenger elevator on the west side of the arena.

Funding for Thompson-Boling Arena renovations is from donors to the Campaign for Tennessee Basketball and revenue from new premium seating areas such as Thompson-Boling Arena luxury suites and loge seats and membership to the Riverview Club.

Opened in 1987. The first renovations where done in 2008. Wonder what the reason for that timing was??? Can you say PEARL VISION???

Makes it even more funny how the men with such a short amount of time and success in that building have been able to be 4th in America in attendance, reduce greatly the other teams attendance, renovate the whole place and build a practice facility. Who's your daddy now baby????

That maybe true but the women are the ones hanging the banners.

The court is named after Pat Summit not after JJG.

They've been hanging banners every year of the Pearl era.

Coleman Coliseum. Now there's a beauty. Looks like a Gomer Pyle Army Barrack.

I never said anything bad about TBA you loser. It's not my fault that Pat Summit is the winningest coach at UT in any sport.Pearl ain't done shite and you know it.

You ought to be proud that UT is recognized as a women's bball school.
Keep drinking your snake oil inbred.I don't think it'll cure hillbillie though.
