Towel:
  1.  If you had actually played any sports, you'd know what a major sport is.
  2. Basketball is a tournament sport and UT hasn't won the SEC since 1979.
  3. Hamilton has severely damaged UT football with his hiring of Kiffin and possibly Dooley.
  4. The contract debacles is inexcusable.
  5. DaVols: I almost added a caveat on the Pearl hiring which agrees with what you said.

It is okay. Everyone knows I am right. You can admit it.

On the contracts, as much as I hate Hammy, there are no faults or anything wrong with the contracts.

1. Phil's buyout was put in and paid by Haslem. It is also in line with other contracts at similar schools. It was the same buyout Layne had and I think that Dooley has.

2. Layne's buyout (the $800K for him to go away) is also in line with industry standards. Besides, if they do not want to be here who cares.

In other words, Tenn has nor had any contract issues. There are much bigger issues with Hammy but that is not one of them. Besides, he is not even close to the final authority of contracts of coaches. If you have an issue with a contract, and there are none, than take it up with Anderson and Haslem. They are the ones paying for it anyway.

I don't think the UTAD will let Hambone make another hire or fire for at least a year. If things look bleak they will  /Kiffin/ can Hambone and let the next AD hire his own people.

IF things look bleak? Have you seen who Hammy has chosen to run the football program and the baseball program? Bleak is a understatement. These are about as bad a times as I have ever seen at the UTAD and it's all on Hammys shoulders. The Dooley experiment will work itself out. The Raliegh experiment has already blown up in the lab. I don't need to see anything else to know that the UTAD will NOT improve until it hires Fulmer or a leader of his ability to run the daily operations. The only person I want fired is Hammy and until that happens, all Vol fans will have to watch the slop that is now UT football and UT Baseball.

There's an old saying about people who talk, just to hear themselves talk.  The same could definitely be said about the people who mostly write on this board.  They write to see themselves write.   What makes you guys think that Hamilton is walking on some sort of tight rope is just wishful thinking i'm guessing.  After U.T. hires a permanant president, and he or she starts giving opinions on the state of athletics, you guys will continue writing to see yourselves write.

If Haslem gives the new Prez the power they need, that person will want to hire their own people. Hammy will be gone at that point. I only write to see myself write after a healthy dose of meth. What is your excuse?

UT is a year from getting a new prez hired and on the job. I would be shocked if UT fires and hires until a new prez is on the job. I also believe Haslam will be a bit more involved in UT business as soon as this Guv's election is over. It looks like it will be finished by the end of summer for them if things don't make a dramatic turnaround. He is nearly 10 points down  and he surveys shows that Zach Wamp leads the field of declared Republican candidates with 25 percent of the vote, followed by Bill Haslam at 15 percent, Ron Ramsey at 7 percent, and Bill Gibbons at 4 percent.  10 points in a Guv primary is nearly impossible to turn around and to make it worse he has the strongest name recognition of any of the candidates and he is still down double digit.

deadline is October 15. That means more than likely Raleigh makes it another year. I did hear he and Hammy where doing an old Injin rain dance to keep the losses down  Big Jim has moved out of most of it. His kid is making the decisions. Even they will probably get out of the new Prez's way or they will not get a strong Prez.

So a new coach and winning team is going to pack Lindsey Nelson Stadium?  Damn, DaVols, you slam the Lady Vols and the cream of corn admission prices, and take UT baseball seriously?  What up with that?

Towel, I am guessing that always getting picked last and having to play right field has stuck with you your entire life.

I don't care who coaches the baseball team until they put some damn capital into the program. The baseball program needs some exposure and pop to succeed.
