Obama Said The Surge Would Actually Worsen Sectarian Violenc

NCVol:
Do we get to go back and bring up all the wrong predictions from the neocons about Iraq, too?

Just curious, because I remember a bunch of them, starting with the WMD, Saddam's ties to AQ, that we'd be welcome with open arms, the cost, the duration, "Mission Accomplished" and lots of other boneheaded and deadly to thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis miscalculations by the folks who pushed us into war to begin with.

Another question.  What part of Obama's handling of Iraq is a problem?  I know he f'd it up royally, being an incompetent, but specifically, what did he and the Joint Chiefs and the folks he put in charge, like Gates and Petraeus, do wrong?

GRAY:
just proving that NC isn't above a "nah nah nee boo boo" type post lmao

go ahead. tell us to "stick our head in doo doo.."  CMON.

NCVol:
Give me a break.  Obama was wrong about the surge.  Fine.  We knew that.  This was in 2007.  What is the point?  Because if the point was we're going to hold politicians accountable for being wrong about Iraq, I was just wondering how far back we could go and who we were going to hold accountable.

I guess the answer is, we're going to go back to 2007, and hold Obama, and only Obama accountable, and take as a given the many tragic, deadly, catastrophic mistakes that led us to debate a surge 4 years after the war began and try to deal with a war that, at the time, spiraling out of control.  All the errors that led up to the need for a surge are, I guess, off limits to this discussion?

And maybe the other point is Obama is a dumbshiate incompetent when it comes to dealing with Iraq as President, and his surge opposition was a harbinger of future F ups, and if so, I was wondering what problems you or OMG or anyone else has with the way he's handled the situation as President. Specifically.  Including keeping on Gates and Petraues.

One Man Gang:
Just for the record, putting Petraus in command in A-stan was a DEMOTION.  He had previously been Commanding General of CENTOM (Central Command) which is a Theater Command and reports directly to SecDef and the President.  Afghanistan is a PART of CENTCOM.  Sort of like putting Ike in command of a division in 1945.

I guess it's just more "competence" from the Regime.  It's ALWAYS good strategy to demote your best general.

Uh huh.  Yep. Mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm.
